Directory > Helpful Search Tips >

Are you having difficulty finding the information you need when you use our Directory Search? These tips should be able to help you refine your search, so that finding a provider or facility will be quick and easy. Always remember to make your first search be your most broad search.

  • When searching for Physicians, the simplest way to search is to enter as little information as possible. For instance, let’s say you’re looking for a Pediatrician named Jane Reynolds in New Orleans, Louisiana. First, you would select the directory you wish to search by clicking the small circle to select “Physicians”. Your first search by name only should be just “Reynolds”, and the initial of the first name, “J”. You could then enter the city “New Orleans” to narrow the search to a specific location.

  • When searching for Facilities, remember that there might be variances in how the facility is listed. For instance, you want to know if Christus St. Patrick Hospital is in the PPOplus network. You enter the exact name, but find no matches. Why didn’t it appear on your search? You need to make your search broader. Enter only “Christus” and check the resulting list of facilities in the Christus system for the one you need.

  • Using the “Specialty” field for searches can be tricky. Many similar categories exist in the Specialty list. Let’s say you want a listing of Pediatricians in your area. If you select “Pediatrics” from the Specialty list, you may not see all of the choices available within your area because of the large number of pediatric subspecialties available in the network. Examples of pediatric subspecialties include Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Orthopedic, and Pediatric Urology. Be sure you look at the Specialty list thoroughly to select the best specialty category for your search.

  • Using City for searches. A city name can be helpful when narrowing down a search for a physician or facility. Try finding them by name and maybe their state before adding this detail to your search, in order for your search to be most successful.

  • Searching for a list of physicians or facilities in a certain geographical area. If you need to search for a list of physicians or facilities in a certain geographical area, try using our Search by Zip Code feature. You may search for this information two ways.

Zip Code and Radius Instant Directory: Use the form to create an Instant Directory of all the PPOplus Providers within a specific distance of a zip code. For instance, you might want physicians within 20 miles of your home. Just enter your zip code into this form and select the "20 miles" option. The Instant Directory will find all PPOplus physicians within this distance from your home.

Zip Code Range: Simply enter a range of zip codes in which the system should search. Your results will give you all providers and facilities within that group of zip codes.
